Tagaytay Lodge No. 165

Kuya Nick, a life member of F&AM is an original member of Ibarra Lodge No. 31, now known as Emilio Aguinaldo Lodge No. 31 of Kawit, Cavite. He was born on January 8, 1920 at Caridad, Cavite City, and was dedicated by his mother to be an EAM on May 21, 1955, a Fellowcraft on November 10, 1956 and as a Master Mason on December 1, 1956. Eventually, he became a Master of that Lodge in 1963. A year before that, or on August of 1962, Kuya Nick was one of the Charter Members of Tagaytay Lodge 165. He traced his Masonry to his uncle Emilio Virata who was a master of Ibarra Lodge in 1921. He recalls the decorum of his uncle, the ways his uncle helps the youth and the poor, and added that having co-workers who are Masons inspired him to join.
Among his credentials as a Mason include the following: a Charter Member and dual member of Tagaytay Lodge 165, a 32 deg. Member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, SF, Ca., a Noble of the Mystic Shrine in Islam Temple SF, Ca., a Charter Member of Saigon Lodge 188, a charter member of Mendez Lodge 316 and a dual member of Chandler Lodge 34 in Chandler, Arizona. All this is proven by the heavy plaques he presented.
Kuya Nick has a background in commerce at the Far Eastern University. He joined the US Air Force as a civilian employee and worked with the Department of Defense, Atomic Energy Commission and Logistic Command where he retired.
WB Morabe was one of the past masters responsible for the revival of Tagaytay Lodge No. 165. When he joined the Lodge, there was an imminent danger of collapse due to dwindling attendance and membership. He started to revive it by regular fellowships which he hosted in his residence at Kaybagal, Tagaytay City. The fellowships caught the attention of Bros. Quintana, Heredia, Guerrero and even Col. Gatan, who later became members of the Craft. Having been elected as secretary he started sending notices, expended on long distance calls—later he was awarded as the Most Outstanding Secretary of district 2 in 1996.<br /> He attributes to Masonry the warm welcome he always receives when visiting foreign and local places. He advises that we as Masons are respected leaders of the community as people bow with reverence to a Mason. Thus we must watch our language, act properly as a Mason for by our actions shall we be respected.
