"Quar nous navons volu ne volons le Temple mettre en aucune servitute se non tant come il hy affiert."
(For we did not and do not wish the Temple to be placed in any servitude except that which is fitting.)
-- Jacques de Molay in one of his memoranda to Pope Clement V from the summer of 1306.

icon jdml305 logoMasonic Year 2009 is ushered in and welcomed with the usual flair for something new and exciting by the Brethren of JDML305 during their 17th Public Installation of Officers.

jdml 305 Red carpetDeparting from the usual suit-white-shirt-red-tie dress up, the Brethren proudly showed their sartorial elegance by wearing black suit and black shirt accented with an orange tie. Not satisfied with a single surprise, the Brethren further donned themselves with orange baseball caps to match their formal suits. The Grand Master, visibly surprised and at the same time fascinated by the eclectic fashion taste of the brethren donned his cap too and gamely posed for a photo with his JDML305 Brethren with their orange caps on. Meanwhile outside the hall, guests and visitors were regaled with a reception by being welcomed with bursts of flashbulbs in a glamour photo shot fronting a JDML305 logo backdrop. An attempt to bring the feel of an Oscar awards night red carpet reception.

In this Grand Jurisdiction, it seems it is only the Jacques DeMolay Memorial Lodge No.305 who can combine juvenileness with serious formalities, and candor with finesse and good taste. In fine, the Brethren of JDML305 not only makes Freemasonry as a way of life, they know just exactly how to enjoy it.

Thus the 17th Public Installation of Officers of Jacques DeMolay Memorial Lodge No. 305 on January 30, 2009 will be remembered as the first installation having an "Oscar-awards-night-red-carpet-reception," and with orange baseball caps as part of the Brethren's attire in the post-ceremonies photo session.  The 17th Installation will also go down to the Lodge history as one being graced with the presence of two sitting Grand Masters, the Grand Master of Masons in the Philippines and the Grand Master of the Order of DeMolay in the Philippines, who themselves are both Senior DeMolays and members of JDML 305.

programThe 17th Public Installation was attended by more than 51 visiting Brethren coming from 24 different Masonic Lodges under the Grand Jurisdiction of the MW Grand Lodge of the Philippines, and also from Lodge Perla del Oriente 1034 under the Scottish Constitution. Some even came from as far as La Union. JDML 305 showed force with a registered number of 30 officers and members, which includes 11 out of its 16 Past Masters. These numbers do not count personal friends, families, and Brother DeMolays present.

As anticipated, the installation ceremony was performed with exact nicety and perfection by an installing team composed of VW Jojo Javier as Installing Officer, VW Alex Madamba as Master of Ceremonies and WB Apollo Tecson, Assistant Master of Ceremonies. The Guest of Honor, the Grand Master of Masons in the Philippines, himself a proud Charter and Dual member of JDML 305, MW Pacifico B. Aniag, gave an inspiring speech and provided the newly installed officers with wisdom enough to guide them on the performance of their duties during their term. In the end, it was WM Francis E. Blanco's night, and he made sure that everyone remembers that night.

After the refreshment, the Lodge under a new leadership, is now prepared to labor again at the sound of the gavel in the East.

CONGRATULATIONS and Good luck, to the newly installed officers of JDML 305 for Masonic Year 2009!
